Shelf life for social updates

Buddy media recently came up with an interesting study, based on analytics of the 200 odd brands that use it.

According to the study, the shelf life of a typical Facebook status update is 22 hours. Which means if you haven’t got a gazillion likes and a few more comments within 22 hours of a particular status update, then you in all probability have missed the bus.

The shelf life of a tweet is even lesser. An hour at the maximum. So if your tweet hasn’t been commented, retweeted  or mentioned since the last sixty minutes, you can start typing another 140 characters.

Now those are some good deadlines, to manage your social ego massage trip.
